Radio Veronica was an offshore radio station that began broadcasting in 1960, and broadcast offshore for over fourteen years. It was set up by independent radio, TV and household electrical retailers in the Netherlands to stimulate the sales of radio receivers by providing an alternative to the Netherlands state-licensed stations in Hilversum.

Broadcasts began on 21 April 1960. The station announced itself as VRON (Vrije Radio Omroep Nederland; Free Radio Station of Netherlands) but changed to Radio Veronica, after the poem "Het Zwarte Schaap Veronica" — The Black Sheep Veronica — by the children's poet Annie M. G. Schmidt.

After the station's closure, some of its staff applied for a broadcasting licence and continued as a legal organisation with the same name.

The original Radio Veronica became the most popular station in the Netherlands. It broadcast from a former lightship Borkum Riff anchored off the Dutch coastline. The ship was fitted with a horizontal antenna between the fore and aft masts, fed by a one-kilowatt transmitter. Most of its programmes were recorded in a studio on the Zeedijk in Hilversum. At the end of the 1960s the studios and offices moved to bigger premises on the Utrechtseweg in Hilversum. Initially advertisers were reluctant to buy airtime, but those that did reported increases in sales and gradually the station's revenue improved.

For a short time the station also ran an English language service under the call letters CNBC (Commercial Neutral Broadcasting Company). Although short-lived, CNBC was presented by professional broadcasters who were able to give invaluable technical advice to Veronica's Dutch staff.

Radio 538 (Dutch: Radio-vijf-drie-acht) is a Dutch commercial radio station active since 1992 and based in Hilversum. It is the second most-listened-to radio station in the Netherlands.Radio 538 refers to the wavelength that Radio Veronica was broadcast on in the seventies. This station was intended for the younger generation and is owned by Talpa Network. It plays a hybrid of current dance, R'n'B, pop and rock hits, mainly based upon the Dutch Top 40 chart (which it airs Friday afternoons). The station neither focuses on a CHR/Top-40 format, nor a more Dance-intensive approach. The breakfast and drivetime shows are more talk-intensive than others. Traditionally, the station was only obtained through cable, however in 1998 the station upgraded to a different frequency package, allowing for different frequencies by region. Radio 538 started the hip-hop and contemporary R&B program Juize, which developed into the radio station Juize.FM on 18 July 2004. Later, in 2011, Radio 538 created a sister station called TV 538.

Radio 10

Radio 10 (formerly : Radio 10 Gold and Radio 10 FM) is a Dutch commercial radio station that mostly focuses on songs from the 1970s to 2000s, with a moderate amount of mid-1960s' and 2010s' hits. It is one of the oldest, still remaining, commercial radio stations of the Netherlands.

On 2 August 2013, Radio 10 Gold returned on the FM band nationally as Radio 10 after a deal between the Talpa and Radiocorp was made. RadioCorp, the company behind radio station 100% NL, got the airwave frequency package A7 plot allotted. On this plot sent to March 11, 2009 Arrow Classic Rock out. Radio 10 Gold was among the 538 Group, which is owned by Talpa Media. Because the 538 Group already has the maximum number of radio frequencies in use, the station was sold to RadioCorp, and broadcast it back to FM. The agreement Talpa acquired a minority stake in RadioCorp. The station has stayed with the Oldies format and the same jingles (without the Gold in the jingles), Radio 10 Gold (538 Group) temporarily continued its own programming and broadcasting on 828 kHz till 22 September 2013. On FM frequencies was in the meantime to hear all non-stop version of Radio 10.

Because negotiations were still ongoing at all Radio 10 Gold remained until September 23, 2013 broadcast on 828 AM. On FM frequencies was in the meantime to hear all non-stop version of Radio 10.

Due to the cooperation between Talpa (which consist of Radio 538 and SLAM! at that time) and the Telegraaf Media Groep (which consist of Sky Radio and Radio Veronica), which was announced in January 2016 to start a new joint venture between the radio stations, it became known in May 2016 that Talpa has fully owned RadioCorp BV (100% NL and Radio 10) and in turn added Radio 10 to the 538 Group, then SLAM! and 100% NL were sold to the Austrian entrepreneur Karl von Habsburg. In January 2017, the 538 Group was rebranded to Talpa Radio. For the period May–July 2018 the station has a market share around 8% at all ages.

Qmusic (previously written as Q-music) is a Dutch commercial radio station which has been broadcasting since August 31, 2005. The station is owned by the Belgian media company DPG Media.

On July 1, 2005 De Persgroep took on the cable and terrestrial frequencies of Noordzee FM from Talpa Radio for a symbolic sum of one euro. John de Mol, owner of Talpa, had the unconditional frequency package (i.e. without restrictions) which Noordzee aired to do quickly from the hand, to take over to market leader Radio 538, which broadcasts on a frequency unqualified package. In the Netherlands it was not allowed to have multiple unconditional frequency packages in possession.

After two months with a stripped down version of Noordzee FM have gone by, the new owners began on August 31, 2005, around 20:30, a few hours earlier than had been announced, one in Flanders already quite successful radio format, under the name Q-music. These so-called feel-good formula with many recent hits, short presentations, a remarkable morning show and many actions, also caught on in the Netherlands. The market share has risen significantly. In the months of September and October, Qmusic had a market share of 3.8% (2005), 6.3% (2006), 7.6% (2007), 6.7% (2008), 6.6% (2009), 7.5% (2010), 6.3% (2011), 7.5% (2012), 9.7% (2013), 9.7% (2014) and 9,9% (2015). In October and November 2014 was the first time the second most listened radio station in Netherlands. In 2008 and 2015, Qmusic won the Marconi Award for best radio station.

Qmusic used the first years of the Noordzee FM studio on the 's Gravelandseweg in Hilversum, but moved in the end of September 2009, to the former bubble-gum factory Maple Leaf on the industrial Overamstel in Amsterdam. The studio stands atop one of the buildings where an extra floor has been placed.

Since 2010, there has always more young talent heard on the station. From 2012, every year, at least one radio talent from the Qcollege.
